Y’all. We have to talk about Jonathan Leach.
If you don’t know who he is yet, then the music nerd in me is so excited to share him with you. Jonathan is a soul and R&B singer/songwriter in Lincoln, Nebraska who produces soulful beats that are jam-packed with swag that grooves with you. He also puts together some ridiculously creative mashups. When he’s not doing that on his own, you can find him performing with the band Wise (also out of Lincoln).
Jonathan is a diamond in the rough when it comes to musicians on social media. While many put up videos of their performances that are more staged, Jonathan opens up the door for us and invites us to sit with him wherever he is — in a living room, a bedroom, even his dad’s kitchen — and then does what he does best. It won’t take long for you to see that this guy was born to be a musician. It’s easy to fall for his talents as a musician, sure. But, what really got me about Jonathan is how humble he is as well as his raw vulnerability that he so freely shares with everyone. If you follow his music on social media you will find that he is incredibly open about mastering his craft, why he loves music, what inspires him and his insatiable need to create because it’s what he was meant to do.
The beats that he produces are full of a smooth swagger that matches the clarity and perfection in his voice. His vocals are rich, full-bodied, strong, yet comforting and soft when it needs to be. His range is also nothing short of impressive. When you go through the videos below, you’ll see that he leaves behind extra sauce on everything he touches. No matter what it is, it’s going to have that Jonathan “soulwork” flavor on it.
